Stryker visits PHOTONIC and WILD

It was with great interest that Stryker India recently obtained an insight into the WILD Group and its subsidiaries, which it envisages as OEM partners for future cooperation projects.

Orthopaedic and surgical implants, endoprostheses, various surgical instruments, endoscopic equipment and much more besides. Stryker is a pioneer in medical technology with a portfolio of over 60,000 health care products and services. This huge range makes the US company truly stand out and, accordingly, presents several potential points of interaction with the WILD Group. The objective of the delegation members from Stryker India who recently visited the factories at Völkermarkt, Vienna, and Trnava was to explore these possibilities and to become better acquainted with both WILD and Photonic.

“This visit was a first step in the evaluation of our companies as a future, long-term OEM partner”, stress Photonic Sales Manager Annette Stampfer and WILD Business Developer Wolfgang Stiegmaier. “A partnership in the field of contract manufacturing was also discussed”, says Stiegmaier, who gave the interested visitors an insight into the WILD Group’s Technology Roadmap. The talks focused especially on the comprehensive advantages that a cooperation with WILD and Photonic would bring for Stryker. “These range from reducing complexity by way of product relocation, to greater flexibility through supply chain design and the use of already existing Photonic products”, Stiegmaier explained. The meetings with Stryker India specifically addressed the development and production of LED modules and multi-colour light sources for the area of medical endoscopy where Stryker can benefit from Photonic’s long-standing expertise.

100 percent more light

In early 2018, Photonic will be introducing F6000-M, the brightest endoscopy light source currently available on the market. The new model will be setting new standards with innovative functions like a cascadable current driver and next-generation LEDs.

The F6000-M endoscopy light source by Photonic promises to deliver no less than a 100% light increase compared to other modules now available in this sector of the market. “As a strategic partner of renowned LED manufacturers, we are one of the first suppliers to obtain innovative next-generation LEDs. In combination with our new cascadable current drivers for extremely high LED currents, the high-end cooling system, and the optical Iight coupling, we have managed to achieve light fluxes of over 2,500 lumens at the fibre optic output”, explains Photonic Product Manager Christoph Csekö. After around one year of development, the F6000-M now exceeds even 300-watt xenon light sources while also offering lifecycle cost savings of well above EUR 15,000 Euros per module. Moreover, thanks to the cascadable current driver, it is possible to achieve the redundancies specifically required in medical technology. As a result, both manufacturers and users can look forward to a significant improvement in quality.

A modular setup, minimum ripple and flicker-free dimming

The F6000-M module was developed specifically for application in medical endoscopy and microscopy. Especially in these areas, endoscopes are becoming increasingly thin, thus requiring greater light density. Thanks to its modular setup, the F6000-M can be individually adjusted to the customer’s requirements and be integrated in every existing lighting system. In addition, its innovative LED technology allows for a minimal ripple and flicker-free dimming. For users, this means that brightness is adjusted using LED current and that the light remains on without interruptions. This virtually rules out any disruptions. Brightness can be adjusted in 100 steps down to extremely small LED currents. As a result, the module is also suitable for use in lighting systems specifically designed for camera applications.

Medica 2018 in Düsseldorf, GERMANY

Medicin in the spotlight

In November 2018 the MEDICA in Düsseldorf opens its doors for visitors and exhibitors again to present the latest, innovative solutions in medical technology. PHOTONIC has been inspiring guests for many years and will present illumination solutions for medical endoscopy and surgical lights.

32. Control – International trade show for quality control

Industrial illumination systems

Photonic at the 32th Control the whole product range for industrial applications. Solutions for microscopic and endoscopic illumination challenges will be shown and invite visitors to drop by at our stand.

The Control international trade fair for quality assurance, which will be held at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre from 24th to 27th of April 2019, provides suppliers and users with a globally recognised technical event which is focused strictly on relevant issues. The trade fair explores all pertinent aspects in theory and offers a highly practical presentation of current worldwide offerings for useful technologies, processes, products and system solutions in the field of industrial quality assurance. And thus the nearly 900 manufacturers and distributors of QA equipment represented at Control make it possible for manufacturing companies and their suppliers to hone their competitive edge. The supplementary programme with world-class participants and the comprehensive exhibition and information portfolio will once again transform Stuttgart into the business Mecca of the QA industry in the spring of
